“When a person moves anything biological from its environment, they rarely know what will follow.”

“The sea is a mirror of what is happening in the world today. Unpredictability and lack of balance are signs of our time. Nature reacts, and we humans act slowly in response.”

The 3D-printed king crab is part of an exhibition, curated and made by Inghild Karlsen. The artist's attempt to cast a crab resulted in a close collaboration to digitally create and craft the animal. The 3D crab in Inghild Karlsen’s installation is an invader to a new ocean, one that was introduced by humans. The digital format that was 3D scanned, 3D modeled, and 3D printed, reassembles the story of the crab.
